FAQs
What grade levels are Pacesetters?
Our Pacesetters are from 9th to 12th grade students. At University Preparatory Academy, we exclusively serve 8th grade students in addition to our traditional high schoolers.
When does recruitment happen?
Our recruitment process happens in the fall of each academic year. If you miss registration in the fall or transfer into a site that is hosting our program, contact us directly via email about your special circumstance.
How many students does this program service?
We have capacity to service 10 students per grade level. That means each school that we serve between 40-50 students who are interested in healthcare.
What does the program offer?
Each grade level has a unique plan. We provide different experiences with health care professionals, college knowledge, college readiness resources, tours, and more. Therefore, each year is different for each grade level!
Do all students who apply to the program get in?
No. To qualify for our program, students need a minimum of a 2.5/4.0 GPA, complete the application which includes a teacher, counselor, or principal recommendation.
If my student isn’t a part of the site school, how can I get my child involved?
Right now our program is hosted with GRPS, and if you would like to see this program at your child’s school, send us an email at mypace.pathways@graahi.org to share your school’s name and information. We can’t guarantee that we will be there, but it may be worth a try!
If I want to take a gap year, should I still join the Pacesetter program?
Absolutely! The more you know about getting into a program, the easier it will be when the time comes. That’s why we say, “your pace, your race”. When you are ready to go and get your certificate or next credential, we will support you becoming a Legacy Pacesetter.
