Diabetes Prevention

Program Details:
Location: GRAAHI Office
Dates: Wednesdays – 5/15, 5/22, 5/29, 6/5
Times: 6pm-7:30pm

Program Description:
Laying the groundwork: This is a 4 week curriculum aimed at providing a foundational set of tools to Identify, manage, and treat the different types of diabetes.

7/18, 7/25, 8/1, 8/8
Times: 5:30pm-7:30pm

Program Description:
During this 4 week program we walk alongside participants as we dive into ways in which nutrition positively impacts and controls diabetes, and promotes a healthy health. We do this by teaching participants their caloric intake,daily macro intake, portion sizes, food label reading, cholesterol limits and how to make healthy recipes through our live cooking demonstrations. Participants will receive 1 cookbook, 2 diabetes diet friendly support books to help identify calories in foods as well as being able to adjust their caloric intake to fit their desired goals.

Program Details:

Location: Kent County MSU Extension Office
Dates: Thursdays – 8/22, 8/29, 9/5, 9/12, 9/26, 10/3
Times: 5:00pm -7:30pm

Program Description:
 This is a 6-week comprehensive series that serves as a wellness roadmap, addressing self-management, stress coping, and mental well-being as it relates to diabetes and heart disease. Participants will learn how stress management and behavior management impact our bodies. We will offer a physical fitness component (walking class) 2 times a week as well. Participants will receive Fitbits as well to track their physical activity.
